A local psychiatrist who has referred several patients to SAC put it plainly:

"Countless times in which the Sexual Assault Center (SAC) has been nothing short of invaluable for my patients. The unfortunate reality here is that trauma is far more common than the public realizes, and that treatment of these patients require intensive work that requires funding."

The psychiatrist wrote these words to a federal funding roundtable, urging them to protect funding for therapy services. They're debating.

Federal funding sustains nearly 50% of our operations. That funding is at risk. Meanwhile, inflation is driving up costs, and the demand for services has never been higher.
