This year, SafeCity will focus on our survivor outfit display, called “What Were You Wearing?” Inspired by the the work of Dr. Mary Simmerling, Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert (University of Arkansas), and Ms. Jen Brockman (University of Kansas), Sexual Assault Center will be honoring Sexual Assault Awareness Month with this two-day exhibit that will feature the clothing, stories, and voices of local survivors.

The Installation asks participants to understand that it was never about the clothing. If only ending sexual violence was as easy as changing our clothes. The exhibit requires all of us to examine what enables us as individuals and a society to ask, “what were you wearing?” in the first place.

Our fundraising goal for this event is $80,000. Thanks to a generous gift from Hays Foundation, each gift will be matched 1:1 up to $20,000. Every healing story is made possible with your generosity.
